Admitting Defeat

I went out of my way to vary my running route this morning to look for radioactive squirrels. Although I was unsuccessful, I did don this slightly radioactive colored sweater and didn't shave my legs as an ode to my quest.

I am afraid that I may have to give up on these pants. I have tried everything I can to make them work and nothing seems to work. Even my trusty chambray, goes with everything, shirt cannot save them. I have an appointment with my surgeon this afternoon to see if medical science can intervene. If not, these pants may just have to be put out to pasture.

Although this is not a great photo, I used it because I think my pose is hilarious. I have been wearing these pants every weekend since I got them on clearance a few weeks ago. I even broke my rule about not buying multiples and bought them in black. They are super comfortable and fairly flattering for a drawstring waist pant.

I got this skirt a few months ago at Goodwill. I had high hopes for it being my go to summer skirt when I couldn't be bothered to shave my legs. However, now that I see what it does to my hips, I am rethinking its value to my closet. Maybe it will look better when I lose some more weight or if I tailor the waistline. Or maybe there is a reason why someone gave this away.

Wear It 3/31/2011

It's hard to believe but this outfit looked really cute at home, in the dark. In the harsh light of the office it is not quite right. The main problem is the shoes/stockings. I am having a small shoe crisis at the moment and I think it shows. I think either the nude shoe/stocking combo I did on Monday or tall brown high heeled boots (conspicuously absent from my closet) would have been better choices. Until then - we have this.

I was so excited about this outfit until I tried to photograph it. It looks a lot better in my head than on "film."

Here's a fun fact about this outfit. Every item except the necklace and stockings cost about $15. I am especially pleased with this shirt. On Saturday mr. deathstar and I went to Target to spend a gift card he had received for Christmas. When we walked into the store I pointed to a shirt similar to this and announced "I want that shirt but without the details on the pocket." I proceeded to find the perfect one but only in plus sizes. I found another one that was okay but the fabric was very thin and not on sale (I don't know about you but I have a hard time spending $22 on a shirt at Target). Dejected I scoured the clearance racks debating if I could shrink the plus sized shirt or wait for a sale on the imperfect shirt when lo and behold I found this shirt waiting for me. On sale! In my size. And because he is a wonderful man, mr. deathstar even purchased it for me. He also got me some brightly colored Flair pens. My man is a catch I tell you.
