Lazy
Posted by
matilda deathstar
In order to prepare for Sunday's 5k, I have been tapering my runs down so this morning was shorter than usual. While this could have resulted in a more thought-out outfit, laziness prevailed and I just grabbed my go to uniform of late - dress, cardigan, flats. I put on the necklace at the last minute, but I don't think it does much to elevate the outfit.

Built for Comfort Not for Speed

After a long absence this dress has made a return to regular rotation. I purchased this more than 10 years ago and last wore it at my law school graduation. Because it is mesh it stretches to a variety of sizes which makes it both practical and comfortable.

Intrepid

It probably doesn't look like much, but this skirt is quite a miracle worker. It is made from some fiber that keeps everything in place and makes you feel as if you spent the weekend eating vegetables and drinking kale smoothies, when, in fact, you ate 16 kinds of ice cream and drank a few pitchers of margaritas.

The Shirt

Have you ever purchased an item of clothing thinking it was the most awesome thing ever only to be surprised that no one else thinks it is as amazing as you do? That is the story of this shirt. I purchased it probably 10 years ago and no matter how many outfits I've made with it, it just never draws the love and admiration I thought it deserved. In looking at this photo, I'm beginning to think that the world was right and I was wrong.

Rut

I am in a bit of a fashion rut. I blame more frequent court appearances but the truth is that even at home my outfits have become a bit repetitive and boring.
Hopefully the upcoming long weekend will clear my head and give me some sartorial inspiration.

Temporary

matilda deathstar
I am leaving work early today to go to a doctor's appointment, after which I plan to eat a large lunch (I have to fast before the appointment so I am, predictably, starving) and go for a run (which I skipped this morning due to the aforementioned hunger). After that I will leave it to your imaginations as to whether I come back to work or sit on the sofa and watch NCIS re-runs.
All of this explains today's outfit which I selected because it is comfortable, easy to get in and out of, and, only temporary.

I should have taken this photo before I had to run to court in the rain. You will just have to trust that I looked a lot better (or at least less wrinkled) a few hours ago.

Lucky combinations

In case you were wondering, I did get dressed on Friday but I was so miserable in my outfit that I decided to spare you all from looking at it. When I got home, mr. deathstar wanted to go out so I jettisoned the uncomfortable outfit and grabbed the first dress and sweater I saw. I liked the combination so much that I wore it again today.
Did you all have a good weekend? I ran 8 miles on Saturday morning, sat on the beach for a few hours and then had some friends over for dinner. We made a very yummy (if I do say myself) salad consisting of raspberries, blackberries, strawberries, greens, candied walnuts, goat cheese and a vinaigrette. Sounds like it wouldn't work but it was really good.
Sunday was a repeat of Saturday but with a short 3 mile run, a much needed pedicure, and we ate the salad ourselves. Now I am counting the days until next weekend. How about you?

Tug Dress
Posted by
matilda deathstar
I planned to wear another dress this morning but decided it was too short for work. Then I selected this dress which is also probably too short and which I'll be tugging on all day. Wardrobe challenges notwithstanding, this morning has been lovely so far. I had a nice 5 mile run this morning at a better than usual pace. I found the receipt I needed to return something. And my shoes are bright yellow.

Blazer + Dress = BFFs

This blazer and dress saw a lot of action individually last year (example 1, example 2) but they were never paired together until today. Now I don't know if I'll be able to separate them.

This outfit was inspired by watching Hart of Dixie this morning. I know I am 20 years older than the show's demographic, but I can't help myself. Try not to judge me too much.

Pajama Party

I really wanted this dress to work but I think I have to admit that it just doesn't. In spite of it being unflattering, this dress is super comfortable - I feel like I'm wearing a nightgown. Which, if you ignore the lack of sleeping bags, junk food, hair braiding, and fun - makes me feel like I am having a pajama party at work.

Rained Out

I wanted to go for a run this morning but wimped out due to the rain. I decided to use my extra time constructively, so I threw on the first thing I found and came to work early .... only to find our file server is down. Sigh. At least I have the internet to pass the time.

When Easy Becomes Too Easy
Posted by

Inspired by the simplicity of yesterday's outfit, I tried to do something similar this morning. While this wrap dress is easy to wear, I had forgotten that it is cut differently than my other wrap dresses and tends to gap in front no matter how tightly I tie it. Thus there is a 87% probability I will be flashing the court this morning. Luckily I will not be there very long. Also I hate these shoes with this outfit, but they are the only ones I have that can withstand some rain and are comfortable enough to allow me to walk to court.

Comfortably Tight

This weekend, my sister and I discussed tight clothing. She maintained that all tight clothing was uncomfortable, while I opined there was a distinction between tight clothes and clothes that were too tight. This skirt is exhibit A. Tight but not too tight. In fact it is quite comfortable.

Dressy Before Coffee Always Messy

I slept in this morning and reversed my usual routine by getting dressed before I had breakfast (and coffee). Although we will never know for certain, I can only believe I would have chosen better had I been more awake.
