I had two big cases in court today which necessitated me coming in a 6am this morning. Getting dressed in the dark can often yield unpredictable results but I think I did okay today. Or at least no one has had the courage to tell me otherwise. Which is win enough for me.

A few months ago I saw a gorgeous hunter green pantsuit in a magazine and I became obsessed with finding something similar (for less than $2,000). While not hunter green, this teal blue suit is quite suitable (get it?). I find blue a challenging color to work with but I can think of a few things in my closet that will work with this shade. NOT, however, the shirt I am wearing now, which will be heading for the give away bag once I get home.

Roof Pig is what mr. deathstar and I say whenever we are surprised at something . . . such as when I found this suit under my bed. I have no idea why I kept it but it was clean and I needed a suit for court today so there you have it.

Confession: I signed up for a Bar Association seminar today because they always serve Chessmen cookies at lunch and I thought it would be a nice relaxing way to end the week. Unfortunately, my boss had something come up so I have to cover for him in court this afternoon. Not only does this mean I will leave the seminar early, but it also necessitated me wearing a suit. Admittedly, this suit is made of cotton jersey so it is very comfortable but I would still rather be the fun summer dress I had originally planned for today.

I have to go to court this morning (in case the suit wasn't enough of a hint) so I brought out my Hayden Harnett Sonia bag. This bag is great for court days because I can fit a legal sized case file and have plenty of room for a wallet, keys, phone, etc.

The best part about today's outfit, besides the fact that I scored this theory suit for $12 at Goodwill, is the fact that my t-shirt is clean! After a month, I finally have a working washing machine and dryer. I also have 546894 loads of laundry left to do but I am trying to keep the tone of this blog positive.

Since I did not have time to run this morning, I decided to take the long route to court later today, which necessitated walkable shoes. Walkable shoes, required shorter pants and once I chose these, I was locked me into this blazer. Then I needed a non-patterned shirt and I found this silk t-shirt in the back of my closet. All good parts but together they don't seem to work.

I find it very hard to wear a black suit/white shirt without feeling like a waiter at TGIFridays. To offset the stuffiness I threw on a belt, as many silver necklaces as I could find, and my beloved comfortable blue shoes. What do you think, did I succeed or should I be offering you some fresh ground pepper with this post?

Say hello to good black pantsuit. Unlike most of my suits, she did not come from Goodwill but she does not hold that over the other suits in my closet. In addition to these pieces I have a dress and cropped pants that match the blazer. Versatile!

My full length mirror told me I looked great this morning so it was a little surprising (and depressing) when I saw how large and disheveled I look in this photo. Clearly I need to figure out a way of fixing my camera lens to show what the mirror shows. I wonder if Siri can help with that.

Fridays are not a typical court day for me, but the court scheduled a conference for today and here I am stuck in a suit for the day. A smarter person might have brought some jeans to change into later, but, as I have demonstrated on numerous occasions, foresight is not one of my stronger skills. A smarter person might also have chosen a career that did not involve getting up so early and that didn't involve wearing so many suits.

Remember a few weeks ago when I was bragging about my thrift haul, which included a brand new Theory pantsuit for $12.50? Well here's the suit in all its boring awesomeness. One of the drawbacks of having to go to court is that I have to wear suits a lot, which I am certain is the ONLY reason* I will never be featured as a cool fashion blogger in Lucky magazine or get sponsored by cool brands who give me swag and send me to conferences :) But the upside to wearing suits - is they are easy. Just toss one on, pick a pretty blouse and you are out the door in less than 5 minutes. It also helps to have had your power turned back on so you can see what you are doing.

Please use caution when driving or operating heavy machinery and viewing this outfit. The only interesting thing about it is that the pants are so snug that I am in fear that they may split when I'm in court later.
