Skirts May Appear Pinker Then They Are

I was so excited to show this outfit today until I discovered that the skirt turned pink in all the photos.   In reality it is a lovely tomato red (seen here back when I apparently had better lighting and a rug in my dining room).  Not that there is anything wrong with pink, but really tomato red is better.

My dry cleaner is gaslighting me

I am pretty sure my dry cleaner is trying to gaslight me by shortening all my skirts and dresses so it appears I am getting taller.  I swear this used to be a fairly age appropriate, conservative (for me) dress.  Now it looks like a Julia Roberts Pretty Woman reject.

My Sartorial White Whale

For years I have been trying to find the perfect winter white outfit.   As goals go, this one is probably one of my least practical as white + me = stains.   However, on Friday I found this off white skirt at the cheap discount place down the street and threw caution to the wind.  The sweater is not quite as yellow as it seems in the photo and I am very happy with the result.

Great Dress Bad Photo

If you are in the market for an inexpensive dress to wear for the rest of the summer, I suggest going to Old Navy and giving this one a try.   (Warning - It is a halter style top so if you are well endowed or disinclined to wear a strapless bra, then it is not for you).

Crazy Pants

The last time I was at my doctor, discussing my chronic anxiety issues, the doctor asked   whether I was inclined to any out of control behavior - like compulsive shopping.  According to him, this is only a concern if you buy unnecessary things - like a Ferrari.  However, I suspect that a better example might be these pants.  While these pants cost considerably less than a Ferrari (Old Navy Clearance!) I am pretty sure that lumpy 40 something women should not be purchasing hot pink stretch cropped pants - much less wearing them in public.

Remarkable

While at first glance this may appear to be just another mediocre photo of a boring outfit. However, if you look closely there are some remarkable details such as:  I am wearing earrings, I got a pedicure (my toes have been trashed by running but I managed to grow back enough of them to get them painted), I shaved my legs (mostly, don't look too closely), and I was able to zip up this skirt for the first time in quite a bit (I know it looks too tight but it actually isn't).

Oldie But Goodie

If there is one upside to spending months only wearing clothes from floor of your closet - it is when you do bother to look for something hanging up, you find a great skirt you forgot you owned.   Sadly, my ability to write coherent sentences has not yet been found.

Inevitable

I love a white cotton dress on a hot summer day.  I don't love trying to wash out the inevitable stains that will be spotting this dress if I attempt to eat or drink anything today.

But of Course I Speak French

A thousand years ago my friend Julie's husband Dave was talking about moving to Quebec and when we questioned his ability to speak French - he said, in a very bad French accent, "but of course I speak French, what is it I speak now?"   mr. deathstar and I still repeat that joke to this day.  Which is probably sad but also true.

Other true facts:

  • this outfit needs a belt
  • I just dumped pink lemonade down the front of this shirt leaving a pink stain
  • I have had the song Waltzing Matilda in my head since Saturday where there was an impromptu sing-along at my dad's wedding reception

I am not sure what is more distracting in this photo - my cat photo bombing the shot or my shirt which makes my boobs look huge.

Rescued

Last year I decided I had gotten my wear out of this fab Betsy Johnson skirt and I put it in a pile for consigning/giving away.  As you can tell, that never happened and now the skirt is back in rotation at least for today.

Blame the Pirates

I have no idea why I am standing like this or why I paired these shoes with this outfit.  I blame Spring Fever and Pirates.  In equal amounts.

Greentastic

One nice thing about being too busy* to blog is that there is no record of how many times I've worn this exact same outfit in the last three months.  I'll give you a hint - you may need a scientific calculator to calculate the number.

That 70's Dress

I am pretty sure this dress looks cuter in person than in this photo.  My cats seemed to think so but they also seem to think I look fine in a bathrobe as long as I am petting or feeding them.   Speaking of cats, last night I missed my opportunity to capture a video that I am certain would have gone viral and made me a fortune.   Baxter the cat managed to get himself stuck in a paper bag and ran around for a least a minute before the bag was shredded and he was freed. No harm was done, other than to his pride.  The cat toys by my feet are survivors of the event (they were in the bag).

Dated?

I have always liked this dress because it is easy to wear and somewhat flattering.  However, I wonder if it is starting to look a little dated.  Not that that will stop me from wearing it, but I wonder if anyone else thinks the same.

Some days fashion is fun and getting dressed is an exiting exercise in creativity.  Other days you are just happy that you are protected from the elements and didn't tuck your skirt into your underwear.  Today is one of those other days.

Green Dots

I know this belt doesn't exactly go with this outfit, but I needed something to cover up the fact that I could not zip this skirt up all the way (and still breathe).   Vintage is great but it can be hard to wear when you are waist challenged.

Zootastic

I have been doing a really good job of avoiding sales and shopping for the last few weeks.  One exception is this shirt which I snagged at Target while on an emergency Cap'n Crunch run last week.  The pattern is little zoo animals and if I get as much wear as I do from my other animal print top, my investment will be well worth it.
