Vintage Quandry

I found this dress at my local Goodwill a few months ago for $11. I initially purchased it for the fabric (gorgeous silk, not necessarily evident in this photo), thinking I would be able to rework the dress somehow. When I got it home I saw that the dress was from Balenciaga! Made in France and everything.

Which brings me to my quandary. Do I attempt to rework the dress into something more modern or do I not mess with it and embrace the vintagey style? What would you do?

Dress: Balenciaga via Goodwill
Belt: ? via eBay
Shoes: Camper

Mo put down the scissors and step away from the dress! I think it's beautiful as it is, and it's vintage Balenciaga!!!! Don't change it.....

Piggy's right. Don't even THINK about altering it! It looks gorgeous on you... and you wouldn't hack away at a Monet, or re-mix a David Bowie?! (Okay. Maybe you *would* remix a David Bowie). But it looks great. I'd say make it more modern with what shoes, bag, hair and makeup you wear with it.

BEAUTIFUL - don't change it, and I like the shoes with it, too. If I were bolder, I would pair it with some costume bracelets and embrace the vintage.

looks great the way it is. (both the dress and you!) the dress is the perfect length, imo. i love how flowy it is.

Ok, phew, glad the others got here before me to make sure you don't change a thing about that dress! It's fabulous, and looks amazing on you!

I can see why you'd be drawn to the fabric. I think your decision should be based on whether you love to rock this look or whether you think there is a better dress to be made out of it. I think it already has a lot going for it, but its your dress!

Oh, Girly. Don't change a damn thing about that dress. If you change it to make it more modern it will just go out of style. Rock it like it is. You look great. No, you look fantastic!
Hope somebody is taking you out to dinner!

I agree with the other opinions, that dress is so elegant and vintage that every change could destroy it...!
